Declining CDW:
We do accept most credit card company’s protection plans. However we suggest that you call your credit card company ahead of time to be sure that the 4×4 vehicle that you will be renting in Costa Rica is covered by your credit card’s insurance policy.
Declining this insurance; Once Target Car Rental has accepted the written proof of your credit card’s CDW coverage from your bank, prior to the start of the rental, which must include the specific card number and the customer’s name, the client becomes responsible in full for the rental car. Any damages must be paid in-house, and the customer is responsible to submit and follow through with the claim with their bank. The credit card company will be responsible to reimburse the client, so it is expected to pay upfront for any damages.
The authorized driver must be present with his or her credit card at the rental agency. We will not accept credit card policies in anyone else’s name.
In the absence of written proof of credit card coverage, the customer cannot decline this insurance.
If you are sure that you can decline the CDW, ask for an updated quote, which will be verified at the rental agency.
Please note that the deposit required for the vehicle will be double if the CDW is declined, the amount will depend on the car category.
The TPL (Third Party Liability) cannot be declined in any circumstances, due to it being mandatory by Costa Rican law.
